As a development professional with expertise in MEL and research, I am very used to rely on evidence and facts (and technical excellent) as tools to make sense of my working world and to make decision in dealing with difficult situation. But as my career grows in leadership position, I started to realize that evidence/fact/technical expertise alone is not sufficient to help me understand real cause behind difficult situation and to deal with/make good decision in such situation. Coaching helps me better understand the “non-technical” factors behind a situation and provides me with tools to identify and deal with these better. It has helped me move one step closer to my goal of becoming an impactful and compassionate leader in my organization.
