Carol Kauffman

Dr. Carol Kauffman is the Head of the Harvard Institute of Coaching. Over the past 25 years, she has been an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, where she founded and serves as the Executive Director of the Institute of Coaching. In 2009, she received a $2,000,000 award from the Harnisch Foundation to establish the Institute. Demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit, she initiated various impactful projects, including co-chairing the Coaching in Leadership and Healthcare Conference at Harvard Medical School, leading the International Coaching Leadership Forum, and organizing the European School of Management and Technology Coaching Colloquia.

Dr. Kauffman has actively contributed to the field, chairing events such as the annual meeting of the Consulting Psychologist division of the American Psychological Association and the International Positive Psychology Association conference. She has published extensively, notably as the Founding Editor of the first academic peer-reviewed journal dedicated to coaching, "Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research, and Practice." Her Harvard Business Review article, "What Coaches Can Do for You," is their most frequently cited piece on coaching.
